Glasgow’s West End is one of the most lively and busiest areas outside of Glasgow City Centre. It has excellent pubs, restaurants, night clubs and Theatres. The main Street of the West End is Byres Road, that
runs from the Botanic Gardens at Queen Margaret Drive in the North to Partick Cross in the South.

Just off Byres Road is Ashton lane, with its Ashoka and Wee Curry Shop, Indian cuisine, The Ubiquitous Chip for a more authentic traditional fare and a great choice of good old Scottish pubs to go for that pre-theatre drink or the final night cap.

If it’s theatre that you are after, then you have the Oran-Mor or the Cottier theatres. Or if you have tastes for Film, why not visit the re-furbished Grosvenor Cinema in Ashton Lane, which shows not only the latest mainstream film, but always some of the more obscure to surprise and delight.

At the top of Byres road is the Botanic Gardens, these are a marvel to walk through and even on the dreariest of days, a good visit to the refurbished Kibble Palace a magnificent Victorian green-house can brighten up anybodies day.

If the weather does take a turn for the worst, then it can really be time to heighten up the cultural receptors, on our doorstep you have the Hunterian Museum with the Charles Rennie Mackintosh House in the Grounds of Glasgow University, The Art Gallery at Kelvin Grove and the Museum of Transport near the Kelvin Hall.

The West End Festival is the biggest festival in Glasgow. Started in 1996 as a small local festival, it has grown into a major yearly event with a local street parade, music, outdoor theatre and celebrations.

These are just a few of the delights if you rent and live around the West End….. Come live and enjoy.
